We are all feeling a bit stressed during this difficult time. The COVID-19 pandemic seems to have brought everything to a standstill. It is vital that we try to stay positive and hopeful and look out for our physical and mental well being. The following are a few helpful tips we at SVP Sports have been sharing amongst team members and would like to share with you as well.
1. Stay Clean
Even though you're at home, wash your hands with soap often for at least 20 seconds and avoid touching your face. When coming home from outside, always wash your hands with soap and sanitize all your entrance doorknobs and handles.
2. Eat Healthy
Eat a healthy and nutritious diet which will help your immune system to function properly. Vitamins B6, C and E are all known for their immune-boosting properties. You can get all of these vitamins from a well-balanced diet. Some foods rich in these vitamins include eggs, bell peppers, spinach and almonds.
3. Exercise Regularly
30 minutes of daily physical activity for adults and 1 hour for children is recommended.* Use an online training video, dance to music, do some yoga or walk up and down the stairs. If you decide to go out for a walk or a run, please keep a safe distance from others and respect their space.
4. Get Up & Stretch
While working from home, make sure you don't sit in the same position for long periods of time. Get up and take a 3-minute break every 30 mins.
5. Keep A Healthy Mind
This is a difficult time for all of us, and we are all going through this together. Keeping a healthy mind is vital. If you're feeling depressed or anxious, try talking to people you love and trust. Check on neighbours, family and friends, assuring them that they can speak to you about anything. Keep a safe distance - you can call, text or video chat utilizing today's technology to connect.
6. Drink Responsibly & Butt Out
Limit your alcohol consumption and avoid sugary drinks. Don't smoke as smoking can increase your risk of developing severe health issues if you become infected with COVID-19.*
7. Occupy Your Time
Use this time to do the things you love. Listen to music, read a book, play a game, watch your favourite shows or movies.
8. Stay Productive
Clean the house, paint that room you have been putting off, stay productive and you will keep in good spirits. Take this time to learn a new hobby or educate yourself through online courses or catch up on your work.
9. Limit Your Time Watching The News
If watching the news or receiving constant updates on your mobile device is making you feel anxious, change the channel or disconnect. Try to limit your time watching the news and turn off alerts from news sources on your mobile device. Get your information from a reliable news source once or twice a day.
10. Stay Positive
Try to stay focused on the positive. Eventually, things will return to normal and we will all carry on with our lives.
